Cristina Voto is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Turin (FACETS _ERC Project), Professor in Semiotics at the University of Tres de Febrero (Buenos Aires) and Curator of the Biennial of the Moving Image in Buenos Aires. Her academic research focus on Semiotics, Design Studies, Audiovisual Cultures, Digital Arts, Futures Studies, and Gender and Queer studies. She obtained her PhD in Design at the University of Buenos Aires with a thesis that semiotically explores the relationships between audiovisual design and gender theories.

She has been a Lecturer in Audiovisual Design at the University of Buenos Aires and a Lecturer in Theory and Critique of Architecture in Global South at the University of La Matanza, Buenos Aires. She has been a Visiting Professor at the School of Arts and Design at Jorge Tadeo Lozano University (Bogotá) and a Visiting Researcher at the Nacional University of Colombia. She has participated as a speaker at numerous conferences in Italy, Argentina, Spain, England and Colombia. She has published articles in several peer reviewed journals, as well as book chapters. She has worked in several film festivals in Italy and Argentina as programmer and curator.
